Vintage Longboards

This is a very rare deck from 1982. This came from the NHS factory, home of Santa Cruz Skateboards, and upon removing the grip tape I found some layout markings and a signature on the topside. I emailed Tim Piumarta, the R&D director at NHS, and he said they were his markings from the early 1980s. Santa Cruz Skateboards fabricated decks for other brands back then (Sims, Lucero, etc), and still do today. This deck is an everslick team model and was used as a template to reshape / redesign later popsicle shaped models.. But was ultimately set up and skated instead. Pro riders that had this team SIMS bottom graphic were Frank Hirata, Eric Nash, and Andy Roy (maybe a couple others). For the pro models, different top graphics were added. It’s been skated, has plenty of character, some cracking from age, but is a rare piece of skateboarding history!
